HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH
|
The Kurdish Human Rights Watch, on behalf of all Kurdish Americans, condemns the horrific acts of terrorism that occurred on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 when three commercial aircraft were hijacked and intentionally crashed into the World Trade Center Towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. This was a horrendous act of terrorism against the American people from all faiths and all ethic groups. We join with other Americans to offer our condolences and prayers to the families and friends of the victims. We also appeal for tolerance and understanding during this time of outrage and anger. We understand the urge of some to lash out at Muslims and people from the Middle East. Most Kurdish and other Middle Eastern people fled to America as refugees to escape the torture and terrorist acts of despots like Sadaam Hussein of Iraq. Let us recognize it is time for everyone to come together in an atmosphere of calm, unity and support for their fellow Americans. KHRW urges the community at large, political leaders, and religious groups to condemn acts of violence against Muslim and Middle Eastern Americans and immigrants. We strongly support the initiatives of President Bush, the United States Congress and local governments to ensure that terrorist acts are not again perpetuated against the American people. We applaud the communities across America that have come together to assist those who have suffered injury and enormous loss. We share the commitments of all Americans to combat terrorism and protect our cherished freedoms.
Last but not least KHRW expresses its gratitude to all individuals involved in the relief operations. Our hearts and prayers are with the fire fighters, health professionals, law enforcement personnel and volunteers for their efforts.
