2001 Conference Registration Form

The 4th National Kurdish - American Conference
Invitation Letter

                                                                                                December 16, 2000

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

On behalf of the Kurdish Human Rights Watch, Inc. I invite you to participate in KHRW's Fourth National Refugee Conference. Please join us for this important opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the Kurdish community in America. Together we will explore views and options for strengthening our unity both in each local community across America and in Kurdistan. The Conference will be held on Friday, January 26th through Saturday January 27th in Nashville, Tennessee at the Sheraton Music City Hotel.

This year’s conference will focus on each participant’s views and personal experiences. So be prepared to share your stories and listen to the stories of others. It will be a times to focus both on our past accomplishments and new opportunities for both Kurdish and other refugee groups seeking to build successful communities in America. It will be a special time to create new approaches to community empowerment and leadership.

We will have presentations on different topics and we will meet in smaller groups so that everyone can listen to each other’s experiences as well as share their own experiences. We will celebrate what we have achieved and discuss challenges facing both Kurdish and other Middle Eastern communities seeking to build successful lives in such communities as Seattle, San Diego, Nashville, Dallas and Fairfax, Virginia.

We will address such topics as: Community Organizing and Grassroots Leaders, Refugee Women Roles and Issues, The Future for Kurdish Communities in America, Refugee Preventive Health, Refugee Youth Priorities Through Refugee Youth Eyes, and KHRW Refugee Programs and Strengthening Communities of Former Refugees in 2001. It will be an opportunity to develop shared goals and make commitments to achieve these goals. We also will address how to become a full partner in the democratic, social and economic mainstream of America.

KHRW is a private, non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to the well being of refugees. Our mission is to promote the cultural, educational, and socio-economic development of all Kurdish and other refugees and immigrants. We look forward to your participation and contribution to our Fourth National Conference. I have attached a registration form and a flyer that describes the 2001 conference program. For any questions about registration, hotel reservations and travel logistics please call Tahir Hussain in Nashville at 615-331-1956 and Dalia Aziz or Darleen Bates in Fairfax, Virginia at 703-385-3806.
