To empower refugess, new-arrivals, and communities in the United States in achieving individual and community self-sufficiency and integration.

About KHRW
Iraqi American Center

Iraqi American Center is an affiliation of Kurdish Human Rights Watch ( KHRW). KHRW is a humanitarian, non-profit community based organization. KHRW has its main office in Virginia and some six centers in the USA and Iraq.Since 1989, KHRW has helped refugees and immigrants achieve successful resettlement. In reaching our goals, we have established social, educationl, health, and international programs.

KHRW is also a prominent source of up-to-date information on the Iraqi people in general and the Kurdish people in particular. In the past decade, KHRW’s priority has been to assist newcomers with training on various aspects of American life.

Today KHRW has a full range of services to help clients from all ethnic backgrounds achieve self-sufficiency.

Partnerships/Networking

Partnership with Macomb Literacy Partners in developing English literacy and language skills, and preparing immigrants to pass the Citizenship test. Literacy program networking with Macomb Literacy Partners, Oakland Literacy Council, and the Detroit Literacy group.

Partnership with ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services) in Family Enrichment programs.

March, 2003: The Kurdish Human Rights Watch (KHRW) is concerned that the international community may ignore the plight of Iraqis in Northern Iraq. There are already approximately 600,000 Kurdish-Iraqi men, women and children in Northern Iraq that are internally displaced (IDPs) and living in tent camps. Employment Counseling Services –

Kurdish Human Rights Watch has been providing Employment Services to the Middle Eastern Community in Dallas since it was established in 2000. The Employment Services Program includes job search, employment applications, job readiness, and resume preparation for job interviews. KHRW provides refugees with resettlement services to overcome barriers to a smooth transition.  KHRW assists refugees and immigrants deal with major issues in their everyday lives.

Immigration counseling: general counseling and referral, preparation of documents for asylum, family reunification, etc.  KHRW/Dalas has been providing Immigration Services to the community since 2000.  KHRW assists immigrants and refugees with their applications for Employment Authorization renewals, Green Card applications, Citizenship application and preparation, access and referrals for family reunification and Affidavits of Relationship (AOR) and Affidavit of Support (AOS), etc. For more information about KHRW’s Immigration Services, please call (972) 980-4772 or Email us at KHRWDallas@aol.com

Translation and Interpretation: Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, French

KHRW is providing English as a Second Language classes (ESL) to the community.  The majority of the students are homebound women and elderly.  ESL is the newest form of English Training, studies have proved that ESL helps prepare individuals with limited to no English language skills for the Job Industry.    Teachers teach the individuals work related English; such as time management (how important time is in the work place), dress for success (professional clothes are needed to get a professional job), resume preparation, hands on interview skills, etc.

Translation and Interpretation –
